When the Lilies for Lillie committee set the goal of $50,000 this year – many doubted us. Knowing the team working with me and the support of our amazing volunteers, entertainers, donors and supporters – I knew it was possible. When we turned around our cheque for over $100,000 at our 5th annual Lilies for Lillie concert last Saturday night – while I knew the amount being announced, it wasn’t until then that it became a reality!

Naming 1 of 24 suites in Daffodil Place after my mother was our driving force and in partnership with Scotiabank, we apparently inspired others as the support we received province-wide was absolutely overwhelming. We sold over 20,000 Lilies for Lillie lapel pins, raised thousands on our major ticket draws (see winners) and put off the 5th Annual Lilies for Lillie (SOLD OUT) concert where we saw some of the top entertainers this province has to offer!

5 years ago Lilies for Lillie was created to keep the memory and spirit alive of a pretty special lady – Lillie Delaney and more importantly my mother! Today, I look back and think about what has been accomplished and those who will be benefit – all from the fact that I was blessed with a pretty amazing mother who I vowed would not be forgotten and truth be known – the fact that she was taken from us at 53 years old – well it’s the least I could have done. All her life she touched lives and through Lilies for Lillie you – all the people who have supported Lilies for Lillie in any possible way – have allowed her legacy to continue. There is no price tag out there for such a gift!

Right now it is time to close a chapter on Lilies for Lillie and what a better way to do so! Are we closing the door on Lilies for Lillie? Not in the slightest – when the doors of Daffodil Place open – Lilies for Lillie and Lillie Delaney will be opening doors for cancer patients and their families each and every day. We are just going to take a much needed break! One never knows what the future will bring but something tells me... Lilies for Lillie is not over for good!
