Get to know the people behind LFL...
Gordon Delaney
is the founder of Lilies For Lillie (LFL) and the proud son of
Lillie Delaney! Gordon takes Lead on communications, marketing and
public relations for LFL, and is responsible for overseeing LFL’s
overall fund-raising efforts! Gordon completed a Bachelor of
Commerce (Co-op) degree from Memorial University and became employed
as a Student Recruitment Officer with the Office of Student
Recruitment, Memorial University, as well at the Marine Institute in
the same capacity. Upon leaving Memorial, Gordon moved on to become
Sales and Marketing Manager for Weather Shore Windows. Currently
Gordon is employed with the Canadian Cancer Society as Manager,
Relay For Life. Some of Gordon’s other cancer involvements include,
Curl for Cancer & CureQuest (Canadian Cancer Society) as well as
being a supporter of Real Time Cancer. Some of his other interests
include the Royal St. John’s Regatta where he has rowed for 14 years
and has been a coxswain for 11 years. Gordon welcomes and
encourages, everybody to join him and the entire committee in making
LFL a huge success!
Lesley Priddle is
the treasurer of LFL and completes other tasks, including the design
and delivery of our annual lapel pin. Lesley has been with LFL since
its inception in 2003 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a
major in economics from Memorial University. Since Graduation she
has gained full time employment in St. John’s. Lesley is an active
volunteer in the community, she is district commissioner/girl guide
leader, and has participated in the Bell Walk for Kids. As well
Lesley has participated in several cancer related fundraisers
including the Climb for Cancer, Cure Quest and Curl for Cancer.
Lesley is particularly interested in helping LFL as it raises money
for cancer research and also provides everyone who knew Lillie
Delaney a special day to remember her with a smile.
Mark Noseworthy
oversees promotion for LFL and has been with the project since its
inception in 2003. Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce
(Co-op) honors from Memorial University, specializing in Information
Technology. Upon graduation, he became employed as an IT specialist
in a Canadian Information Technology company and has obtained
international experience. Mark has volunteered his time working for
local food banks and has helped raise funds for charities such as
the Canadian Cancer Society. Mark is very excited about LFL 2008 and
looks forward to making a difference in the battle against.
Angie Clarke joined LFL in 2006 and is the entertainment liaison for LFL. Angie has completed both a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Education from Memorial University. In her professional career, Angie is a placement officer at the Marine Institute. Angie is a member of the Allied Youth Provincial Advisory committee, a post advisor, and also the Newfoundland Rep. on the International Board of Trustees. While Angie never met Lillie, she knows that she was a very special lady, and is proud to be a part of this special initiative.
Andrew McArthur joined LFL in 2006 and oversees print and production of materials for LFL. Andrew is a graduate of the Michener Institute in Toronto and is currently employed as a Cardiovascular Perfusionist with the provincial cardiac surgery program. Andrew is a member of several hospital committees as well as national and international professional organizations. He has taken part in many charitable events such as Curl for Cancer and Shave for the Brave, as well as being a regular donor to The World Health Organization. Andrew has many fond memories of Lillie and realizes that she was a very unique person who would be overwhelmed by the work being done in her memory.
Alison Moore joined LFL in 2006 assists in fund-raising and special projects for LFL. Alison has completed a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education, both from Memorial and is the proud teacher of a grade 5 class in Ferryland. Alison participates in fund-raising efforts for various cancer related projects and some of her personal activities include dancing and rowing. Alison will forever remember Lillie for her humour and generosity.
Shawna Peddle became a LFL committee member in 2007 and made a significant impact as the west coast representative. Shawna graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, Memorial University where she currently works as the Coordinator of International Student Programming. Shawna has been involved with the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life, Bowl for Kids Sake with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Christmas in July Food Drive and more recently spent time in Guatemala assisting on the construction of a school for under privileged children. Shawna never had the opportunity to meet Lillie, but from what she knows, she is sure she was a wonderful woman who was fun, loving and caring.
Jennifer Donovan joined LFL in 2008 and it is the volunteer coordinator for LFL. Jennifer completed a Bachelor of Science at Memorial University and is currently working as a registered dietitian. Jennifer has participated in both the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life as well as the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundations Run for the Cure. Although Jennifer never had the opportunity to meet Lillie, she knows she was a wonderful woman who is deeply loved, and is honored to be a member of the committee.
