Welcome to Lilies for Lillie - a fundraiser created in 2003 in memory of my mother, Lillie Delaney!
When Lilies for Lillie launched its inaugural campaign, nobody had any idea it would continue to grow and accomplish what it has to date. Our first campaign Lilies for Lillie raised just over $4500 and the entire committee was elated. 7 years later, $140,000 dollars, over 35,000 lapel pins, 5 concerts, a Lillie Delaney Memorial endowment (Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation) and a patient suite called “Lillie’s Loft” in Daffodil Place – sometimes I am in disbelief, yet still honored that it has all happened. Lilies for Lillie has kept a memory alive and made quite a few memories of its own along the way!
This year is a little different as we not only
support those living with cancer in Newfoundland and Labrador, we
are also supporting the people of Haiti. This year we are proud to
be donating our funds to Daffodil Place & the Canadian Red Cross –
Haiti Relief Fund. As well, we are incredibly grateful to our
partners – returning partner Scotiabank and newly onboard this year
the VOCM Cares Foundation. Both of these great organizations have
amazing people working for them and together with your support we
will raise much needed funds for charity and all in memory of a
special lady!
2010 marks an important year as we not only embark on another major
campaign; it is the 10 year anniversary since my mother passed away.
While we continue to raise as much money as we can, more importantly
it is an amazing feeling to know that after a decade my mother’s
memory, spirit and giving nature is still in full force today!
On behalf of my family & the entire LFL committee, thank you! Your support over the years has helped me keep a promise I made 10 years ago and that is something no money can buy!
Sincerely,
Gord Delaney
